God's Perfect Plan
Not Coming!
I recently visited with a man who is not coming to Church, but his family does. He told me, “Preacher, I went to church as a child but dropped out until I got married. But shortly after that I dropped out again. I think that religion is important to children once in a while, they need a little Christian orientation because the world has gone nuts…”
I ask him the question; “You planning to go to heaven?” His answer was, of course, “Yes!” My reply, “Then how do you plan on getting to heaven?”
“This world is full of crooks, but I have made it a practice to be good throughout my life; the world is full of immoral people but I have made it a practice to be good throughout my whole life; this world is full of people who are neglecting their parents and the elderly but I have made it a practice my whole life to be good. I am,” just pretty good!”
Well, there are some Really Great People and some Really Bad People, but somewhere between the good and the bad you will find me.
When we set the standard, God has to be at the top of that standard and let’s put Satan at the bottom of the standard. I am afraid that man-made standards just give us the opportunity of overrate ourselves in our, not only to others, but in relationship to God.
Most people think that they are bumping their head on God’s standard and no one thinks they are operating below God’s standard. The world's think, After all if I am below the standard, well God understands and will over look me because there are extenuating circumstances.
God’s standard never changes and God never says that it is ok to operate below His standard.
Salvation and heaven does not depend on your ‘good enough.’ Jesus is the only way to heaven and your confessed faith in Him will make heaven a home for you. Romans 10:9-10
I am excited about being able to invite you to share Sunday morning with me at Cowboy Church. God's Prefect Plan is our theme for this entire year, but that theme has sections - Last Sunday we traded in the Exhausted Life for the Exchanged Life.
Come Sunday and you will see something very different from the norm - Casual Christianity.
